I wanted to be a businessman like my father. He was a suit-and-tie guy, and I grew up watching him, so that’s what I wanted to be when I got older.

* Forbes Best-in-State Top Financial Security Professional were selected by an independent research firm based on various qualitative and quantitative data. You can learn more about SHOOK Research's methodology here. Neither SHOOK nor Forbes receives any compensation in exchange for placement on its Top Financial Security Professional (FSP) rankings, which are determined independently (see methodology). FSP refers to professionals who are properly licensed to sell life insurance and annuities. FSPs may also hold other credentials and licenses which would allow them to offer investments and securities products through those licenses. Ranking algorithm is based on qualitative measures learned through telephone, virtual and in-person interviews to measure best practices. Also considered: client retention, industry experience, credentials, review of compliance records, firm nominations; and quantitative criteria, such as: assets under management, sales figures and revenue generated for their firms. Investment performance is not a criterion because client objectives and risk tolerances vary, and audited performance reports are rare. Individuals must carefully choose the right FSP for their own situation and perform their own due diligence. SHOOK's research and rankings provide opinions intended to help individuals choose the right FSP and are not indicative of future performance or representative of any one client's experience. Past performance is not an indication of future results. For more information, please see http://www.SHOOKresearch.com. SHOOK is a registered trademark of SHOOK Research, LLC.

Joe’s office is in Saddle Brook, New Jersey, and he lives just across the state line in New York, where he grew up. He and his wife Anney, an AIS math teacher, have been married since 1994. They have two adult children—their son Nicholas, and Samantha, who married her husband Geno in the fall of 2023. Joe and Anney like to travel, spend time with friends, and go out to dinner together.
In his spare time, Joe enjoys playing in a local softball league, and he has developed long-lasting friendships in his 15-plus years on the team.
If you could eat only one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Probably a good steak. There’s a place in New Jersey called RP Prime—they have a 12oz fillet mignon that is awesome.
What is your favorite childhood memory?
My dad didn’t go to college—he graduated high school, joined the Navy, saw combat in Korea, and when he came back from Korea, he started building houses with my grandfather. He worked 18 to 20 hours a day, had two jobs, and he and my mom still made time to come to our baseball and football games. Whatever my brother and I were involved in, they tried very hard to be there. My father’s work ethic created many opportunities for us, and I’m fortunate that same work ethic was instilled in me from a young age.
What’s your favorite part of your day?
Coming home to my family. My wife is still happy to see me after the 34 years we’ve been together!
What or who makes you laugh?
Good movies or comedians. I like Sebastian Maniscalco; he has an Italian background, so I can relate to that.
Coffee or tea?
Coffee. Always coffee. And Dunkin’, never Starbucks.
